FUEL FILTER DISASSEMBLY/ASSEMBLY [SKYACTIV-D 2.2]

Warning

•  Fuel is highly flammable and dangerous. Fuel line spills and leakage can cause serious injury or death, and damage to equipment. If fuel comes into contact with the skin and eyes it will cause irritation. To prevent this, always perform the “Fuel Line Safety Procedure” referring to the “BEFORE REPAIR PROCEDURE”.

•  A person charged with static electricity could cause a fire or explosion, resulting in death or serious injury. Before servicing the fuel system, make sure to discharge static electricity by touching a vehicle.

Caution

•  If parts are exposed to the fuel, their function may be decreased or a fire may occur. Spread a rag to absorb any leaked fuel.

Drain Plug Removal/Installation

1.  Remove the fuel filter. (See FUEL FILTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)

2.  Remove the drain plug.

3.  Install in the reverse order of removal. (See Drain plug installation note.)

Drain plug installation note

1.  Tighten the drain plug enough to the fuel filter by hand.

Sedimentor Switch Removal/Installation

1.  Remove the fuel filter. (See FUEL FILTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)

2.  Remove in the order indicated in the figure.

2	Sedimentor switch (See Sedimentor switch installation note.)

3.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

Sedimentor switch installation note

1.  Tighten the sedimentor switch enough to the fuel filter by hand.

Drain plug installation note

1.  Tighten the drain plug enough to the fuel filter by hand.

Fuel Filter Removal/Installation

1.  Remove the fuel filter. (See FUEL FILTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)

2.  Disassemble in the order indicated in the table.

3.  Assemble in the reverse order of removal.

Fuel filter installation note

1.  Apply a small amount of fuel to the fuel filter O-ring. Tighten the fuel filter approx. 3/4 by hand.

Sedimentor switch installation note

1.  Tighten the sedimentor switch enough to the fuel filter by hand.

Fuel Warmer Removal/Installation

1.  Remove the fuel filter. (See FUEL FILTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)

2.  Remove the fuel warmer.
