Purpose, Function

Diesel particulate filter indication
•  When the PM accumulation amount in the diesel particulate filter exceeds a certain value, the diesel particulate filter indication and a message in the multi-information display are displayed simultaneously to inform the driver that DPF regeneration is required.
Diesel particulate filter indicator light
•  When the PM accumulation amount in the diesel particulate filter exceeds a certain value, the diesel particulate filter indicator light illuminates/flashes to inform the driver that DPF regeneration is required.

Construction

•  The diesel particulate filter indication is displayed in the multi-information display. (With multi-information display)
•  The diesel particulate filter indicator light is built into the instrument cluster. (Without multi-information display)

•  For vehicles equipped with the multi-information display, a warning message is displayed in the multi-information display as the same time the wrench indicator light is turned on/wrench indication is displayed. Operation


Diesel particulate filter indicator light

•  The DPF indicator light illumination/flashing conditions are as follows:
DPF indicator light illumination conditions
―  Ignition switch ON (turns off after several second)
―  PM accumulation amount in diesel particulate filter is 8.0 g/L {0.50 lb/ft3} or more (turns off when it is 5.0 g/L {0.31 lb/ft3} or less)
DPF indicator light flashing condition
―  PM accumulation amount in DPF is 10.0 g/L {0.62 lb/ft3} or more (turns off when it is 5.0 g/L {0.31 lb/ft3} or less)

1.  When the ignition is switched ON (engine off or on), the instrument cluster receives (1) a diesel particulate filter indicator light illumination request signal from the PCM via CAN communication.

2.  The instrument cluster turns the transistor on (2) based on the diesel particulate filter indicator light request signal.

3.  When the transistor turns on, a ground circuit with the wdiesel particulate filter indicator light is established and the diesel particulate filter indicator light turns on (3).

•  The message display conditions related to the diesel particulate filter indication are as follows:
―  PM accumulation amount in diesel particulate filter is 8.0 g/L {0.50 lb/ft3} or more (turns off when it is 5.0 g/L {0.31 lb/ft3} or less)
―  PM accumulation amount in DPF is 10.0 g/L {0.62 lb/ft3} or more (turns off when it is 5.0 g/L {0.31 lb/ft3} or less)
