ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2]

Warning

•  When the engine is hot, it can badly burn. Turn off the engine and wait until it is cool before removing the ECT sensor.

1.  Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)

2.  Remove the engine cover. (See ENGINE COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)

3.  Remove the drive belt. (See DRIVE BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)

4.  Remove the drive belt auto tensioner. (See DRIVE BELT AUTO TENSIONER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)

5.  Remove the bolt, nuts and engine cover adapter.

6.  Set the wiring harness aside. (See Protector Installation Note.)

7.  Drain the engine coolant. (See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)

8.  Disconnect the ECT sensor connector.

9.  Remove the ECT sensor using the SST.

10.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

11.  Refill the engine coolant. (See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)

Protector Installation Note

1.  Install a protector shown in the figure.
