ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE CHIME

Purpose
• While driving or after accelerating from a standstill, the electric parking brake chime alerts the driver that the electric parking brake is operating.
Functions
• If the vehicle is under any of the following conditions, the electric parking brake control module activates the chime and outputs the electric parking brake chime request signal to the instrument cluster. A message is indicated on the display and the warning sound is activated to alert the driver.

― The electric parking brake is applied while driving.
― The electric parking brake is operating after the vehicle accelerates from a standstill. (Electric parking brake automatic release function does not operate)
Construction/Operation
• The electric parking brake chime is activated using the buzzer built into the instrument cluster.
• The instrument cluster receives (1) the electric parking brake chime request signal from the electric parking brake control module.
• The instrument cluster turns the transistor on (2) based on the electric parking brake chime request signal.
• When the transistor turns on, a ground circuit with the buzzer built into the instrument cluster is established and the chime sounds (3).
