FRONT SEAT SIDE COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

Warning
•  Handling a front seat equipped with a side air bag improperly can accidentally operate (deploy) the air bag, which may seriously injure you. Read the service warnings/cautions in the Workshop Manual before handling the front seat (side air bag integrated). (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS.) (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE CAUTIONS.)
•  If the sliding mechanisms on both sides are not locked after assembling the front seat, the front seat will operate accidentally while the vehicle is driven, which could result in serious injury. After assembling the front seat, shake it up and down and verify that the sliding mechanism on the both sides are locked.
Caution
•  After the front seat has been removed, if the slider lever is operated and the front seat is reinstalled with the left/right slide positions deviated, the adjuster unit could be damaged. After removing a front seat, do not operate the slider lever.
•  Verify that there are no malfunctions in the forward/back slide of the seat and in the adjuster unit after installing a front seat.
•  When performing the procedure with a front seat removed from the vehicle, perform the procedure on a clean cloth so as not to damage or soil the seat.

Front Door Side


Vehicles with power seat system/with position memory system

1.  Switch the ignition OFF (LOCK).

2.  Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 min. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)(See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5].) (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5 (WITHOUT i-stop)].)

3.  Pull the power seat switch knob in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure, and remove it while disconnecting tabs A and B.

4.  Pull the power seat switch knob in the direction of arrow (2) shown in the figure, and remove it while disengaging tabs C and D.

5.  Remove the clips from the front seat cushion frame.

6.  Pull up the front seat side cover in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and unhook it.

7.  Using the remover tool, disconnect tabs A and B, and the pin.

8.  Pull the front seat side cover in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure and unhook it from hooks A.

9.  Pull the front seat side cover in the direction of arrow (2) shown in the figure and unhook hook B.

10.  Disconnect the power seat switch connector (with power seat) and the position memory switch connector. (With position memory)

11.  Unhook the wiring harness from hooks A and B, and remove the front seat side cover in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure.

12.  Remove the power seat switch. (See POWER SEAT SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

13.  Remove the position memory switch. (With position memory system)

14.  Install in the reverse order of removal.


Without power seat system/without position memory system

Caution
•  The seat back folds forward when the recliner knob is operated in the upward direction. Be careful when operating the recliner knob.

1.  Switch the ignition OFF (LOCK).

2.  Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 min. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)(See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5].) 3.  Move the remover tool in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and detach the tab. (With lever type reclining knob)

4.  Move the remover tool in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and disconnect the tab. (With lever type reclining knob)

5.  Remove the recliner lever knob in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure. (With lever type reclining knob)

6.  Remove the clip then remove the recliner knob. (With dial type recliner knob)

7.  Remove the screw. (With dial type recliner knob)

8.  Affix protective tape to the position shown in the figure. (Driver's front seat side cover)

9.  Using a plastic hammer, tap a wood slab in several passes in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and remove the lifter lever knob. (Driver's front seat side cover)

10.  Remove the cover. (Driver's front seat side cover)

11.  Remove the clips from the front seat cushion frame.

12.  Pull up the front seat side cover in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and unhook it.

13.  Using the remover tool, disconnect tabs A and B, and the pin.

14.  Pull the front seat side cover in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and unhook hook A.

15.  Pull the front seat side cover in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and unhook it from hooks B.

16.  Remove the front seat side cover.

17.  Install in the reverse order of removal.


Rear console side

1.  Switch the ignition OFF (LOCK).

2.  Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 min. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)(See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5].) 3.  Remove the front seat. (See FRONT SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4.  Remove the screw.

5.  Pull up the front seat side cover in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and unhook it.

6.  Using the remover tool, disconnect tabs A and B, and the pin.

7.  Pull the front seat side cover in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and unhook it from hooks A.

8.  Pull the front seat side cover in the direction of arrow (2) shown in the figure and unhook hook B.

9.  Remove the front seat side cover.

10.  Install in the reverse order of removal.
