DTC U0428:00	Signal error to SAS control module
DETECTION CONDITION	•  Error detected in signal from SAS control module via CAN communication
FAIL-SAFE FUNCTION	•  Refer to “Fail-safe Function Table”. (See DTC TABLE [ELECTRIC POWER STEERING (EPS)].)
POSSIBLE CAUSE	•  SAS control module malfunction

Diagnostic Procedure

Step	Inspection		Action
1	VERIFY SAS CONTROL MODULE DTC •  Using the M-MDS, perform the SAS control module DTC inspection. (See DTC INSPECTION [SAS CONTROL MODULE].) •  Are any DTCs present?	Yes	Go to the applicable DTC inspection. (See DTC TABLE [SAS CONTROL MODULE].) DTC troubleshooting completed, then go to the next step.
		No	Go to the next step.
2	VERIFY DTC TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED •  Using the M-MDS, clear the DTC from the EPS control module. (See CLEARING DTC [ELECTRIC POWER STEERING (EPS)].) •  Using the M-MDS, perform the EPS control module DTC inspection. (See DTC INSPECTION [ELECTRIC POWER STEERING (EPS)].) •  Is the same DTC present?	Yes	Replace the SAS control module. (See SAS CONTROL MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
		No	DTC troubleshooting completed.
