REMOTE HANDLE LEVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1.  Open the trunk lid.

2.  Fold the rear seat back.

3.  Move the remover tool in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure and detach the tab.

4.  Pull the hook in the direction of arrow (2) shown in the figure and remove the remote handle lever.

5.  Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)(See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5].) (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5 (WITHOUT i-stop)].)

6.  Remove the following parts:

(1)  Rear seat cushion (See REAR SEAT CUSHION REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(2)  Rear seat side back (See REAR SEAT SIDE BACK REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(3)  Tire house trim (See TIRE HOUSE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(4)  C-pillar trim (See C-PILLAR TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(5)  High-mount brake light (See HIGH-MOUNT BRAKE LIGHT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(6)  Rear package trim (See REAR PACKAGE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

7.  Disconnect the cable from the rear seat back latch.

8.  Remove the remote handle lever.

9.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

1.  Disconnect the negative battery cable. 2.  Fold the rear seat back.

3.  Remove the following parts:

(1)  Rear scuff plate (See REAR SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(2)  Trunk covering (See TRUNK COVERING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(3)  Trunk board (See TRUNK BOARD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(4)  Trunk side pocket (See TRUNK SIDE POCKET REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(5)  Trunk end trim (See TRUNK END TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(6)  Rear seat belt lower anchor securing bolt (See REAR SEAT BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(7)  Trunk side upper trim (See TRUNK SIDE UPPER TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(8)  Trunk side trim (See TRUNK SIDE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4.  Press the tab in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure to disengage it, and open the upper part of the case in the direction of arrow (2).

5.  Disconnect the remote cable.

6.  Remove the remote cable on the remote handle lever side from the clips.

7.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

8.  Pull the remote handle lever and verify that the rear seat back is unlocked.

•  If any of the rear seat backs does not unlock, or it is hard to unlock or lock, adjust the remote cable. (See Remote Cable Adjustment.)

Remote Cable Adjustment

Note

•  Adjust the remote cable of a seat which has the following malfunctions.

―  Does not unlock

―  Hard to unlock

―  Hard to lock

1.  Fold the rear seat back.

2.  Remove the trunk covering. (See TRUNK COVERING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

3.  Remove the trunk board. (See TRUNK BOARD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4.  Press the tab in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure to disengage it, and open the upper part of the case in the direction of arrow (2).

5.  Move the position of the remote cable adjustment groove on the rear seat back side one step in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure.

Caution

•  If the remote cable adjustment groove is moved excessively, the remote cable will be put in a pulled condition in the unlock direction and it may not be possible to unlock the rear seat back. When adjusting the remote cable, move the position of the adjustment groove one step at a time while verifying the lock condition of the rear seat back.

6.  Close the case.

7.  Move the rear seat back to its upright position and verify that the red indication cannot be seen on the push knob.

Note

•  If red indication can be seen on the push knob, it indicates that the seat back is not locked securely or unlocked.

8.  Pull the remote handle lever and verify that the rear seat back is unlocked.

•  If the rear seat back does not unlock, or it is hard to unlock or lock, move the remote cable adjustment groove one step more.

9.  Install the trunk board. (See TRUNK BOARD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.))

10.  Install the trunk covering. (See TRUNK COVERING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
