LOW FUEL WARNING LIGHT
id092200023000
Purpose
• The low fuel warning light warns the driver that the remaining fuel level is low.
Functions
• The instrument cluster calculates the remaining fuel amount based on the following signals, and if the calculated remaining fuel amount is approx. 11 L {2.9 US gal, 2.4 Imp gal} (without multi-information display (2WD), with multi-information display)/approx. 10 L {2.6 US gal, 2.2 Imp gal} (without multi-information display (4WD)) (fuel gauge indicates remaining 2 segments), it turns the low fuel warning light on.

Note
-
• The PCM performs the prevention of air flowing into the run dry prevention (RDP) control according to the fuel consumption after illuminating the low fuel warning light. For the prevention of air flowing into the run dry prevention (RDP) control, refer to the [RUN DRY PREVENTION (RDP) CONTROL]. (SKYACTIV-D 2.2) (See
RUN DRY PREVENTION (RDP) CONTROL [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)
Structure/Construction
• The low fuel warning light is built into the instrument cluster.
• A warning message in the center display is displayed when the low fuel warning light is turned on. For the message content and verification method, refer to the [CENTER DISPLAY]. (See
CENTER DISPLAY [WITH CENTER DISPLAY].)
• For vehicles with the multi-information display, a warning message is displayed in the multi-information display. For the message content and verification method, refer to the [MULTI-INFORMATION DISPLAY]. (See
MULTI-INFORMATION DISPLAY.)
Operation
1. When the instrument cluster receives (1) the fuel gauge sender unit voltage signal from the rear body control module (RBCM), and the fuel injection amount and vehicle speed signals from the PCM via CAN communication while the ignition is switched ON (engine off or on), it calculates (2) the remaining fuel amount based on each signal.
2. The instrument cluster turns the transistor on (3) if the remaining fuel amount calculated based on each signal is approx. 11 L {2.9 US gal, 2.4 Imp gal} (without multi-information display (2WD), with multi-information display)/approx. 10 L {2.6 US gal, 2.2 Imp gal} (without multi-information display (4WD)).
3. When the transistor turns on, a ground circuit with the low fuel warning light is established and the low fuel warning light turns on (4).
