•  Perform the following malfunction diagnosis only when it is diagnosed with a short between circuits by CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN) MALFUNCTION DIAGNOSIS FLOW. (See CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN) MALFUNCTION DIAGNOSIS FLOW [SKYACTIV-D 2.2 (ATX) (R.H.D.)].)

Determination Procedure

Caution
•  When disconnecting the connector, verify that there is no looseness, damage, deformation, corrosion, or poor connection of the connector terminals.
•  When inspecting the DLC-2, touch it with a paper clip or similar thin pin without directly inserting a tester into the terminals.
•  Disconnect the negative battery cable before performing any work that requires handling of connectors.

INSPECT BETWEEN CONNECTOR C-35 AND REAR BODY CONTROL MODULE (RBCM) FOR SHORT BETWEEN CIRCUITS
•  Disconnect the negative battery cable.
•  Disconnect connector C-35.
•  Connect the negative battery cable.
•  Switch the ignition ON (engine off).
•  Measure the voltage at rear body control module (RBCM) terminals 3E and 3G.
•  Is the voltage at rear body control module (RBCM) terminals 3E and 3G the same?
Yes
Go to Step 4.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT BETWEEN CONNECTOR C-35 AND DLC-2 FOR SHORT BETWEEN CIRCUITS
•  Switch the ignition off (LOCK).
•  Disconnect the negative battery cable.
•  Inspect for continuity between DLC-2 terminals L and K.
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness between connector C-35 and DLC-2 because the wiring harness is shorted between circuits.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FOR SHORT BETWEEN CIRCUITS
•  Switch the ignition off (LOCK).
•  Disconnect the negative battery cable.
•  Disconnect the instrument cluster connector.
•  Inspect for continuity between instrument cluster terminals C and E (wiring harness side).
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness between connector C-35 and instrument cluster because the wiring harness is shorted between circuits.
No
Replace the instrument cluster because there is a short between circuits in the instrument cluster.

INSPECT BETWEEN CONNECTOR C-34 AND REAR BODY CONTROL MODULE (RBCM) FOR SHORT BETWEEN CIRCUITS
•  Switch the ignition off (LOCK).
•  Disconnect the negative battery cable.
•  Disconnect connector C-34.
•  Connect the negative battery cable.
•  Switch the ignition ON (engine off).
•  Measure the voltage at rear body control module (RBCM) terminals 3E and 3G.
•  Is the voltage at rear body control module (RBCM) terminals 3E and 3G the same?
Yes
Go to Step 9.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT BETWEEN CONNECTOR C-34 AND CLIMATE CONTROL UNIT FOR SHORT BETWEEN CIRCUITS
•  Switch the ignition off (LOCK).
•  Disconnect the negative battery cable.
•  Inspect for continuity between climate control unit terminals 1S and 1U. (with full-auto air conditioner)
•  Inspect for continuity between climate control unit terminals D and B. (with manual air conditioner)
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 7.

INSPECT CLIMATE CONTROL UNIT FOR SHORT BETWEEN CIRCUITS
•  Disconnect the climate control unit connector.
•  Inspect for continuity between climate control unit terminals 1S and 1U (wiring harness side). (with full-auto air conditioner)
•  Inspect for continuity between climate control unit terminals D and B (wiring harness side). (with manual air conditioner)
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness between the climate control unit and connector C-34 because the wiring harness is shorted between circuits.
No
Replace the climate control unit because there is a short between circuits inside the climate control unit.

INSPECT BETWEEN CONNECTOR C-34 AND PARKING ASSIST UNIT FOR SHORT BETWEEN CIRCUITS
•  Inspect for continuity between parking assist unit terminals AA and AB.
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the wiring harness between connector C-35 and connector C-34 because the wiring harness is shorted between circuits.

INSPECT PARKING ASSIST UNIT FOR SHORT BETWEEN CIRCUITS
•  Disconnect the parking assist unit connector.
•  Inspect for continuity between parking assist unit terminals AA and AB (wiring harness side).
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness between the parking assist unit and connector C-34 because the wiring harness is shorted between circuits.
No
Replace the parking assist unit because there is a short between circuits inside the parking assist unit.

INSPECT BETWEEN CONNECTOR C-34 AND CONNECTOR C-08 FOR SHORT BETWEEN CIRCUITS
•  Switch the ignition off (LOCK).
•  Disconnect the negative battery cable.
•  Disconnect connector C-08.
•  Connect connector C-34.
•  Connect the negative battery cable.
•  Switch the ignition ON (engine off).
•  Measure the voltage at DLC-2 terminals L and K.
•  Is the voltage at DLC-2 terminals L and K the same?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness between the connector C-34 and connector C-08 because the wiring harness is shorted between circuits.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT BETWEEN REAR BODY CONTROL MODULE (RBCM) AND CONNECTOR C-08 FOR SHORT BETWEEN CIRCUITS
•  Switch the ignition off (LOCK).
•  Disconnect the negative battery cable.
•  Disconnect the rear body control module (RBCM) connector.
•  Connect connector C-08.
•  Connect the negative battery cable.
•  Measure the voltage at DLC-2 terminals L and K.
•  Is the voltage at DLC-2 terminals L and K the same?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness between the connector C-08 and rear body control module (RBCM) because the wiring harness is shorted between circuits.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT BETWEEN BLIND SPOT MONITORING (BSM) CONTROL MODULE (LH) AND REAR BODY CONTROL MODULE (RBCM) FOR SHORT BETWEEN CIRCUITS
•  Switch the ignition off (LOCK).
•  Disconnect the negative battery cable.
•  Inspect for continuity between blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (LH) terminals D and E. (Except Australian specs.)
•  Inspect for continuity between blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (LH) terminals C and D. (Australian specs.)
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 14.

INSPECT BETWEEN REAR BODY CONTROL MODULE (RBCM) AND CONNECTOR C-23 FOR SHORT BETWEEN CIRCUITS
•  Disconnect connector C-23.
•  Inspect for continuity between blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (LH) terminals D and E. (Except Australian specs.)
•  Inspect for continuity between blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (LH) terminals C and D. (Australian specs.)
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the wiring harness between the rear body control module (RBCM) and connector C-23 because the wiring harness is shorted between circuits.

INSPECT BLIND SPOT MONITORING (BSM) CONTROL MODULE (LH) FOR SHORT BETWEEN CIRCUITS
•  Disconnect the blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (LH) connector.
•  Inspect for continuity between blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (LH) terminals D and E (wiring harness side). (Except Australian specs.)
•  Inspect for continuity between blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (LH) terminals C and D (wiring harness side). (Australian specs.)
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness between the blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (LH) and connector C-23 because the wiring harness is shorted between circuits.
No
Replace the blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (LH) because there is a short between circuits in the blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (LH).

INSPECT BETWEEN REAR MOUNT CAMERA AND REAR BODY CONTROL MODULE (RBCM) FOR SHORT BETWEEN CIRCUITS
•  Inspect for continuity between rear mount camera terminals G and H.
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Replace the rear body control module (RBCM) because there is a short between circuits in the rear body control module (RBCM).

INSPECT BETWEEN REAR BODY CONTROL MODULE (RBCM) AND CONNECTOR C-21 FOR SHORT BETWEEN CIRCUITS
•  Disconnect connector C-21.
•  Inspect the continuity between rear mount camera terminals G and H.
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the wiring harness between the rear body control module (RBCM) and connector C-21 because the wiring harness is shorted between circuits.

INSPECT REAR MOUNT CAMERA FOR SHORT BETWEEN CIRCUITS
•  Disconnect the rear mount camera connector.
•  Inspect for continuity between rear mount camera terminals G and H (wiring harness side).
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness between the rear mount camera and connector C-21 because the wiring harness is shorted between circuits.
No
Replace the rear mount camera because there is a short between circuits in the rear mount camera.
