Caution
•  If the finalization procedure is not performed, the Mazda ERA-GLONASS will not operate normally, therefore, perform the finalization procedure. For details on the finalization procedure, refer to the [MAZDA ERA-GLONASS CONTROL MODULE FINALIZATION PROCEDURE] in the workshop manual.
•  If an automatic call is made, the built-in battery power may be depleted and emergency calls may not be possible in the event that an emergency occurs again. After an automatic emergency call has been made, have the built-in battery replaced by an expert repairer (we recommend an Authorized Mazda Repairer).

Outline

•  The Mazda ERA-GLONASS is a system which reports the location of an accident occurring with the vehicle and vehicle information to a call center to assist in a prompt emergency rescue in an emergency situation such as an accident or sudden illness occurring while driving.

Functions

Auto call function

•  The Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module makes a call automatically to a call center to report an emergency if an accident occurs with the vehicle.

Manual call function

•  The Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module makes the call to a call center to report an emergency based on the operation of the Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module switch by the user.

Audio speaker mute function

•  The Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module stops audio output so that it does not interfere with an on-going voice call with the call center.

System conditions notification function

•  The Mazda ERA-GLONASS notifies occupants of the system operation status using the illumination/flashing pattern of the Mazda ERA-GLONASS indicator and the notification sound output from the Mazda ERA-GLONASS speaker.

Operation

Auto call operation

1.  If the vehicle is involved in a collision, the SAS control module sends (1) a collision detection signal to the Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module via CAN communication and hard wire.

2.  When the collision detection signal is received from the SAS control module, the Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module detects the following information based on a signal (2) from the related module.

•  Vehicle/accident information
―  Accident occurrence position information and accident occurrence time information received from GPS/GLONASS antenna
―  Vehicle model information and traveled distance (total traveled distance) received from instrument cluster
―  Engine information (fuel information) received from PCM

3.  The Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module sends (3) accident information/vehicle information to a call center via TEL antenna. In addition, the Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module sends an operation status notification signal to the Mazda ERA-GLONASS speaker and the Mazda ERA-GLONASS switch, and controls the activation of the notification sound and the illumination/flashing of the indicator.

4.  When the transmission of the accident information/vehicle information to the call center is completed or approx. 20 s have elapsed after starting to send the accident information/vehicle information, the Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module starts the voice call (5) with the call center via the Mazda ERA-GLONASS speaker/microphone.

Manual call operation

1.  When a Mazda ERA-GLONASS switch OFF signal is received (1) after receiving a Mazda ERA-GLONASS switch ON signal for approx. 1 s or more, the Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module detects (2) an emergency call request from the user.

Note
•  If a Mazda ERA-GLONASS switch OFF signal is received after receiving the Mazda ERA-GLONASS switch ON signal for approx. 0.5 s or more before the voice call with the call center starts, the Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module stops the emergency call.

2.  When the emergency call request is detected, the Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module detects the following information based on a signal (3) from the related module.

•  Vehicle information
―  Vehicle position information and emergency call request occurrence time information received from GPS/GLONASS antenna
―  Vehicle model information and traveled distance (total traveled distance) received from instrument cluster
―  Engine information (fuel information) received from PCM

3.  The Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module sends (4) accident information/vehicle information to a call center via TEL antenna. In addition, the Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module sends an operation status notification signal (5) to the Mazda ERA-GLONASS speaker and the Mazda ERA-GLONASS switch, and controls activation of the notification sound and the illumination/flashing of the indicator.

4.  When the transmission of the vehicle information to the call center is completed or approx. 20 s have elapsed after starting to send the vehicle information, the Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module starts the voice call (6) with the call center via the Mazda ERA-GLONASS speaker/microphone.

Audio speaker mute operation

With center display
1.  When a collision detection signal is received or an emergency call request is detected, the Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module sends (1) an audio output stop signal to the connectivity master unit (CMU) via CAN communication.
2.  When the audio output stop signal is received, the connectivity master unit (CMU) stops (2) audio output.
3.  When the audio output is stopped, the connectivity master unit (CMU) sends an audio output stop completion signal (3) to the Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module via CAN communication.
4.  When the audio output stop completion signal is received, the Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module detects that stopping of the audio output is completed.
Note
•  If the audio output stop completion signal cannot be received, the Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module cuts off the ACC power supply circuit of the tuner and amp unit (TAU) and forcefully stops audio output.
5.  The Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module restores audio output after a voice call is finished.

Without center display
1.  When a collision detection signal is received or an emergency call request is detected, the Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module cuts off the ACC power supply circuit to the audio unit and CD player (with CD player)/Bluetooth® unit, and forcefully stops audio output.
2.  The Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module restores audio output after a voice call is finished.
